I’m trying to learn for my Statistics class and I’m stuck. Can you help?
The file Earnings_and_Height.xlsx, which can be downloaded from https://wps.pearsoned.com/aw_stock_ie_3/178/45691/11696965.cw/index.html (Links to an external site.) (in the left navigation menu, click “Data for Empirical Exercises and Test Bank”, and then click on “Data for Empirical Exercises and Test Bank (Updated Edition), fifth dataset from the top), contains US National Health Interview Survey data for 1994 from 17,870 workers. The dataset includes annual income, years of education, marital status, etc. To learn more about the dataset, read the data description.
Using a software of your choice (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Matlab, etc.), do the following:
- Find the mean and standard deviation (divide by n-1) for annual income
- Find the five-number summary for annual income
- Generate a histogram for annual income
- Generate a pie chart for marital status (apply labels from the data description, display percentages on chart)
- Generate a histogram for age (use one bin per age; reported age is integer-valued and thus discrete)
- Generate a pie chart for highest degree (< 8 = below middle school; 8 – 11 = middle school; 12 = high school; 13 – 16 = bachelors; > 16 = advanced degree)
