One of the main methods for data gathering when doing a qualitative study is through interviews. When writing a research proposal for a study that requires interviews, the researcher will write up an interview protocol that includes how the researcher will interact with the participant during the interview. The main part of the protocol involves what the interview questions are and whether the interview will be open-ended, structured, or semi-structured.
Find two dissertations in the ProQuest library Dissertation and Thesis data base that are related to your research topic for this course and that include an interview protocol as one of the Appendixes in the dissertation. [Hint: Do an advanced search for “your topic” AND “qualitative.” Then check the table of contents in interesting dissertations to see if they list the interview questions or protocol.]
