Here is the definition of alienation I gave you when we were discussing “Sonny’s Blues”: In the social sciences context, the state of feeling estranged or separated from one’s milieu [a person’s physical or social setting], work, products of work, or self (merriam-webster.com/dictionary/alienation). On her return to Iran, Marjane experiences all four of these feelings of estrangement or separation. In the chart below give two examples of each kind of alienation she experiences, what the cause of that alienation is, and what her response to it is in pages 249 to the end of the memoir. I’ve done one for you as an example
