PREPARING FOR THE LESSON PLANNING PROJECTS
This is the final evaluation of the lesson planning projects. Recall that you will use the same two lesson plans you have previously submitted in 700.3 and 700.4. This project, 700.5 continues with those same two plans, this time evaluating different parts of the lesson plan and the overall plan. Your coursework preceding this project will have prepared you for the evaluation criteria of this project. Using the knowledge gained in the preceding coursework, revise and submit your plans for initial evaluation in this project. Please allow 3 – 5 business days for scoring.
700.5 (this project) evaluates your knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Detailed evidenced of planning for effective questioning with increasing complexity
- Assessments aligned to learning objectives and learning activities and adapted to student needs
- Modifications and accommodations targeted for deficit areas, includes language accommodations as well as those for special needs
- The overall lesson plan – scaffolded instruction, aligned in rigor, developed to address all student needs

Because you are certifying or hoping to certify in a content area that includes the Science of Teaching Reading standards, you must provide evidence through your lesson planning projects that you know and are able to apply the STR standards. Therefore, you must do the following:
1. Lesson Plan 1 MUST be a lesson plan that uses an English/Reading/Language Arts TEKS that addresses one of the following literacy domains: Phonics; Phonemic Awareness; Comprehension; or Fluency. Vocabulary instruction must be embedded in the plan as well. You must use this lesson plan format download to ensure you are meeting the instructional planning requirements that include the STR.
2. Lesson Plan 2 may also be literacy, or you may choose any other standard in any other content area you wish. Vocabulary instruction must also be embedded in the plan, regardless of the content area and standard you choose. You may use the traditional Texas Teachers’ Lesson Plan document downloadfor this plan if you wish, or use the literacy plan template downloadfrom Lesson Plan 1 above.
You may download the rubric here downloadto understand the expectations of the project. You must score at least 24 out of 30 points on each lesson plan to be successful. You may submit each plan until you reach a passing score or within four submissions. The following exemplar lesson downloadplan may be useful for you in your planning.
