Thomas Jefferson University PhD Application Discussion Questions

I’m working on my Ph.D. application discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me with it.

Describe your experiences in 250- 300 words for each area:

1- Community Involvement and/or service: Share an example of a meaningful community activity in which you have been involved.

2- Leadership: Share an example in which you served in a formal or informal leadership role.

3- Overcoming social, economic, or physical barriers: Share an example of how you’ve overcome a significant barrier to success or learned to balance your academic progress with a significant personal challenge.

4- Personal and/or professional ethics: Share an example of how you demonstrated ethics in a difficult situation.

5- Coachability: Share an example of a time when you received suggestions for improvement from an instructor, supervisor, mentor, or another person in a position of leadership over you and how you responded to that feedback.

*Note:

  • Potential areas to highlight are significant family responsibilities, a major illness or injury, how you have sought out resources or identified strategies to minimize the impact of a disability, or how you addressed experiences around bias that could have otherwise significantly impacted your academic progress.
