Need help with my Applied Mathematics question – I’m studying for my class.
Find and post a small data set (20 – 30 values) with at least 2 categorical variables and at least 1 numerical variable. Describe what the data represent and why you chose this data set. Following the ideas presented in chapter 1 of the text, describe the types of variables and how the sample was chosen.
Select a data set that contains a numerical response variable, such as the sample below – the response variable is the number of words that each subject was able to recall. The other variables, which may be numeric or categorical, will be your explanatory variables – they “explain” the response variable.
In your initial post, be sure to include:
- Where you found your data
- What variables you selected (description and numerical/categorical)
- How this sample was selected
- Response and Explanatory variables
- Do you believe that these variables are associated in some way?
- Are there any possible other confounding variables (lurking variables) that might explain an association?
