this is my homework ..
art 101 ..
1) Students have 2 options to choose from for this essay.
– The essay must be 2 pages in length.
– The Essay must be WELL ORGANIZED with an opening paragraph,
body and conclusion. See Essay Organization, Under the LESSONS
tab
– Times New Roman or Arial 12 point font, double-spaced.
– The Essay must have no spelling or grammatical errors.
PROOFREAD
– Anything less than the above criteria will not be accepted.
2) The medium of film is clearly the dominant art medium of our age and students should be able to use the terminology learned in the early chapters of the text to critically analyze the way a film looks and what the director is trying to achieve through color, value, composition, camera angles etc. Include art vocabulary. For examples of how to incorporate specific art vocabulary to critique works of art, refer to chapters 1-5 & 10 of your textbook.
3) In this review, focus on how the film is MADE – imagine yourself in the director’s chair. Only give an extremely brief synopsis of the PLOT. For Option #1, the majority of the essay should discuss the way the film illuminates the artist’s life in an original and captivating way. Does the “look” or mood of the film itself reflect the character’s artistic style? Did you gain insight into their artistic process? Remember to consider how the director utilized the elements of design in the film. This should NOT be an essay on the plot of the film. For Option #2, follow the same protocol only you will not be discussing an artist’s life. We are at the end of the semester. You now have some experience with critiquing works of art. I want to read about what YOU take away from the composition, camera angles, lighting, experience etc.
4) Again, note that a formal essay requires an introductory paragraph, a body, and a conclusion. You are not required to include research on the director or artist however if you choose to do so, you should also have a
Works Cited page. Spell check and have someone else read the rough draft. http://education-portal.com/academy/lesson/formal-essay-definition-examples-quiz.html#lesson This web site has great examples.
5) Submit your essay on Sakai/USAONLINE. After logging into this class online
, you can find the Assignments tab located on the left side. Click on Assignments and then click on Extra Credit Opportunity. Read through the instructions. Use the available submission guidelines to submit your assignment. DO NOT EMAIL YOUR ASSIGNMENT OR SUBMIT IN PERSON. Failure to submit through Sakai will result in no extra credit awarded.
