Think about your relationship with social media. Which social media platforms do you utilize?

How much time do you spend on social media? Who are your friends / followers? Who do you
follow? What words and images do you tend to post frequently? Collectively speaking, which
two, or three, topics do you tend to share with your followers? How does knowing this shed light
on your relationship with social media?
Insight
Do not simply answer the questions. Think about the questions. Brainstorm and decide which
information is most relevant and important. Use that information to guide your essay.
Prewriting / Brainstorming
You must submit evidence of you working through the early phases of your essay. (see notes in
module)
Goal
You should arrive at some “ah-hah” moment after an honest assessment of how you use social
media and why.

• MLA Format
o Times New Roman font
o 12 point
o 1” margins (top, bottom, left, right)
o Proper Heading
o Header to include last name and page # (right upper corner)
• Word Count: 750 (no less than 700 and no more than 750)
• Word Count must be put at end of paper. Once you conclude the paper, double space, and
type the number of words. Failure to do this will cost you points.
• Title must be: My Relationship with Social Media (do not bold, underline, italicize, or
put into quotation marks)
• Point of View: First person
