Conflict theorist think that at the center of human societies there is conflict and a struggle for power, in this case the government serves as a legitimizer of power and it tends to represent the powerful and elite of society while creating laws and punishments to keep marginal people at bay. Consensus only exist within the conflict perspective to the degree that powerful in society agree whatâ€s best for the rest of us.
