Work Breakdown Structure Instructions

Purpose:

The Work Breakdown Structure is an opportunity for you to show mastery when translating project work into a hierarchical decomposition of project milestones. This document divides the project into manageable sections for the project manager to assess the cost and resources needed to meet the required deliverables.

Requirements:

Using Microsoft Project, Excel, or Word, create Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) or Gantt chart for the Project Management Plan you developed. You must include the following components in your WBS: Milestones, Activities, and Resources (Specific Team Members). Provide an estimate for the time required to complete each specific task included in the WBS or Gantt chart.

  • Ensure proper sequencing of activities
  • Give realistic time estimates for each task
  • Review the critical path and resolve any conflicts
  • Submit your Project Management Plan with your WBS

Page and Paper Format:

  • Font must be 12-pt Times New Roman
  • 1–2 pages
  • Include a title for your WBS (WBS_FIRST NAME_LAST NAME_SEMESTER TERM and NUMBER – e.g. WBS_D_Melton_SpringB01)

Submit your Work Breakdown Structure by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 6.

Grading

Consult the Work Breakdown Structure Grading Rubric for specifics on how your instructor will grade this assignment. Any form of plagiarism, including cutting and pasting, will result in 0 points for the entire assignment. All quoted materials must be properly cited in current APA format.
