After reading Chapter 9 (Communism and Post-communism), write an essay by answering the following questions.

What problems did the centralization of economic power in the state encounter that Marxist theory did not anticipate? Did communism create a more equal economic system?

How do we evaluate the economic transitions that postcommunist countries have undergone as either successful or unsuccessful? What are some of the factors correlated with a successful transition from communism?

In order to receive credit, you are required to:
