Prompts for reflective writing may include: 1) What sexist language have you encountered in your nursing textbooks and how does this language marginalize men in nursing? 2) Discuss the concept of the “glass ceiling” effect as it relates to both men and women in the nursing profession as well as non-nursing professions. 3) What are the perceived barriers and/or advantages for men in nursing and how does this affect their success? 4) What has been your personal educational experience as a male student or what experiences have you witnessed of your male peers in the School of Nursing? 4) What does the concept “cultural sexism” mean and how does this directly relate to the profession of nursing?
