Assignment: Choose either 1 major character or 2 minor characters from any of the stories in our book (it can be one we have read or not read, but must be from our book). Then examine, evaluate and analyze your chosen character(s). Then write a persuasive (argumentative) paper in which you present a character analysis and use evidence from the text to support/prove your thesis.
Some aspects to consider:
The ways in which actions (or speeches or the comments of others) are used to bring out the character traits of a character.
The changes or developments of the major character, you might deal with issues such as, what the character is like at the beginning; what conflicts they encounter, confront, or avoid; or what qualities are brought out, which signal the changes or developments.
If analyzing 2 minor characters:
Analyze the qualities and functions of the characters. How do they bring out qualities of the major characters? What do you discover about their own character traits?
Consider and include how the character(s) contributes to the story as a whole.

Analysis: Your character analysis or evaluation should be one that allows the possibility of multiple interpretations. In other words, if no one can disagree on some level with your interpretation or analysis then your topic/analysis is not arguable.
