The Persuasive Essay (the problem essay)
This essay will be the middle section of your research paper. It will follow the narrative section which focuses on your identities and be followed by an argumentative essay that argues for a solution to the problems you define in the persuasive essay.
This essay will explore a problem faced by a group defined as unequal due to ascription. In this essay you must show how social construction created the identity and the inequality (introduction). Define the identity and the inequalities this group faces (1-2 paragraphs). Closely examine one or two specific biases and/or discrimination, that lead to great difficulty for individuals with that ascribed identity (1-2 paragraphs). Clearly define the negative impacts of these inequalities on the group (1-2paragraghs). What are the negative impacts on society (1-2paragraghs)?
