In the periods that were covered in class, Progressivism to World War II, discuss and describe the developing meaning of liberalism. Although Prof. Rodriguez directly lectures on how the definition of liberalism was expanded during the 1930s thanks to the New Deal, one can see how New Deal programs, legislation, and ideals were based upon the progressivism of the early 1900s. There is definitely a direct connection between progressivism and the New Deal. How did the definition of liberalism change from the Progressive Era to World War II? Did the ideals of liberalism expand from a domestic program to an international goal for the United States? Has the definition of liberalism changed since the Great Depression in modern day?
