5 page paper including cover page, citations and bibliography answering using any one of these topics:
Theme: Discuss the director’s thematic concerns. Is this a film about social injustice, cultural values and codes, cultural maintenance and/or assimilation, spiritual rebirth, individual self–discovery, sexual politics, family life, intra–ethnic and inter–group relations etc.? Show how the director develops the theme and its implications via narrative, film technique, characterization, etc.
Film Technique: Discuss lighting, composition, editing, camerawork, soundtrack, depth–of–field, etc. You may take one sequence or several to exemplify your observations about cinematic style. Never treat this in isolation, however. Be sure to discuss how technique enhances the director’s themes.
