Overview
This performance task gives you the opportunity to research your chosen member and gain an understanding of what others do in the USAF/USSF and how everyone contributes to mission accomplishment.
Details
1. Write a speech about Brigadier General Jimmy Canlas to brief on their United States Air Force story as related to Airmanship. See the Profession of Arms attachment and write about how Brigadier General Jimmy Canlas contributes to Air Force Core Values, Code of Conduct, Oath of Enlistment, and Airman’s Creed.
2. When preparing your speech presentation, use the provided rubric to ensure you attempt to meet expectations. Click here to access the rubric.
3. Consider what you have learned about the Profession of Arms (see attatched), Warrior Ethos (see attatched), and Progressive Professionalism when preparing your presentation. Some additional items to consider are:
- What it means to be a professional
- What it means to be an effective leader and manager
- Member’s contribution to the team
- How mission accomplishment depends on a network of Air Force Professionals
4. Once these questions are answered, you will put together a speech for a presentation, using a style of your choosing, displaying the things you learned about Brigadier General Jimmy Canlas. This product could be a PowerPoint, story board, or any other presentation format desired.

- Their contribution to their team by how the member’s actions, decisions and behaviors contributed to a specific event in their career.
5. Finally, the delivery portion will have certain guidelines, such as:
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate language.
- Speech presentation delivery must be within 5-7 minutes.
