This is where you will turn in Project # 1.
For this project, you will be acting as a strategic planning manager at Maersk Corporation. Among other activities, Maersk acts as at 3PL provider for other businesses. Maersk has ordered several Triple-E ships to transport containers, and the CEO of the company has asked you if they should order more. You must prepare a report to present to the CEO and Board of Directors. Your report must include the following.
The advantages of Maersk using Triple-E ships (for the company and for customers).
The disadvantages of Maersk using Triple E-ships (for the company and for customers).
How will additional Triple-E ships will impact the company’s financials?
How will Triple-E ships impact customer service to those looking to Maersk for 3PL solutions?
The risks involved with purchasing these ships and using a new technology that hasn’t been previously used/tested.
How will Triple-E ships impact the European, Asian, and North American Economies? How will the development of Triple-E ships impact the Latin American economy, especially in Panama?
Finally, you will ultimately need to make a recommendation, saying the company should either purchase more Triple-E ships or invest in a different capital project.
You will need to consult the included documents and videos for inspiration. Additionally, you will need to find additional sources to justify your recommendation. You report should use language and concepts learned in the previous LOM classes. For example, you should comment on ideas including security, flexibility, stowability, political regulation, fixed & variable costs, etc…
Your report will be submitted to a national database to check for plagiarism. Your report will be graded based on the requirements described in the rubric rubric – Alternative Formats
Do not wait until the last minute to begin the project. You will need to spend some considerable time developing your analysis to produce a quality report worthy of a positive grade.

I intentionally made the directions vague, so I would not hinder or cramp your creativity. However, I will provide you with the following to get you started:
Question: How long should the report be?
Answer: Somewhere between zero and 100 pages. I do not want to imply a set limit. I want you to focus on fully and accurately addressing the issues outlined in the project, rather than simply filling up space. That said, I believe it will probably require roughly 8-10 pages of analysis (double spaced, times new roman, 12 point font) to thoroughly address the issues. Remember, this is a 200 level class and the overwhelming majority or your semester grade comes from only five assignments. Therefore, you are going to have to put some work into these five projects.
Question: What about the format?
Answer: I am not going to be a stickler about the format. I’m not requiring that everyone’s report looks the same. However, I want you to act like this is an actual report that you would give to your boss if you were really working in this field. Therefore, your report should include a cover page, a table of contents simply saying where in the report (which page) information will be found about each topic, and a references page.
Question: Will I need any outside sources?
Answer: Yes, you will need to reference at least 5 outside sources in addition to the sources I have provided. These sources may be news articles, websites, press releases, laws, videos, etc… Do not plagiarize. If you find information from another source and want to use it in your report you must cite where you found the information. Some of you have not had ENG 102, so you may contact me if you have any questions about proper citation. Also, do not use Wikipedia as a source… EVER. Wikipedia, like many sites, is not a primary source and does not have any informational integrity. The sources you do include should somehow assist your analysis in any of the required areas. If you refer to the articles and videos I have provided you must cite them as well, but you must use and cite 5 sources you have found individually.
Question: Will you provide an example of a completed report?
Answer: No. I want you to be creative and design a report worthy of your boss’ approval.
