The professor explains everything in this video.
This assignment has 2 parts. Part 1 is a tentative topic focus. Part 2 is a brief annotated bibliography. Please submit the assignment as a single file, not multiple files. Students should read the Purdue OWL material on annotated bibliographies in the Week 7 module before beginning this assignment.
Part 1:
Now that you have conducted some background research on the topic of surveillance, you should have an idea of what your focus of the topic is going to be, influenced by one of our Unit 2 readings, even if you aren’t yet sure of your argument focus.
- Briefly explain (150 +/- words) your proposed focus for paper 2 and what area or field of surveillance (such as law/constitution, technology, ethics, etc.) you want to focus on. The possibilities of focus are nearly endless, so you may go beyond a topic related to our Unit 2 readings as long as it is academically viable.
Part 2:
You have likely come across many different types of sources in the course of your early research. To help jumpstart our research and prepare for the annotated bibliography assignment due in Week 8, please locate 1 scholarly/peer reviewed article; 1 professional article or publication; and 1 popular source (as we addressed in our class Zoom discussion on research methodology) that treats the focus of your choice within the topic of surveillance for Paper 2.
- As in an annotated bibliography, list the source publication information in MLA format as if for your Works Cited page
- include a brief (100-150 word) explanation of how you could use the source to explicate and inform your topic and potentially your main argument.
