The Institute of Medicine. (lOM) reports and literature supports the use of technology and informatics to improve quality and safety in healthcare. Each student will be assigned one of the areas noted below. Students will then locate one-specific technology tool device, or an electronic information system in the literature and Internet related lo the assigned area. Each student will address the assignment questions, generate a Power Point (PPD presentation)
A. Assignment Criteria;
Each student will develop a PowerPoint presentation, which includes:
I. Describe how the specific assigned area suppo11s the use of technology and informatics to improve quality and safety in healthcare.
2. Identify the specific tool, device, or electronic information system.
3. Describe the purpose of the specific tool. device. or electronic information system.
4. Describe the end users of the tool. device. or electronic information system.
5. Identify how the selected technology tool, device, or system supports quality and safety in the healthcare system.
6. Identify the potential benefits and drawbacks for nursing and healthcare consumers.
7. Identify specific implications for nursing practice.
8. For presentation clarification, include presenter’s notes in the click 10 add section to explain the slide
10. The PowerPoint presentation should nor be more than I0-12 slides (excluding the title slide and reference slide) and IO minutes in length. Be complete and concise. Use bulleted statements not complete sentences or paragraphs.
11 Use APA format for PPT, which always includes a title slide, a reference slide, and APA requirements.
12. A minimum of two (2) references will be required for this assignment. References should be from scholarly peer-reviewed journals (check Ulrich’s Periodical Director)’) and be less than five (5) years old.
