PART 1: Over the past two weeks, our readings and discussions have been focused on establishing a baseline for understanding technology. This week, we begin our tour through the four lenses, beginning with history. As we dive into the four lenses, keep in mind that each lens is framed as a way of seeing the issue, not necessarily tied to the associated discipline. So looking through the historical lens isn’t just about History Channel documentaries, but about how you use this lens to understand the past and present. As you write your initial post, answer the following questions:
In what ways does looking through the history lens enhance your understanding of the role of technology in society?
Consider a current event regarding technology in the news that has a historical counterpart. How does looking through the history lens influence how you perceive both the current and historical events? Please share a news link to your events.
How does analyzing the relationship between history, culture, and technology have an influence on your discipline of study or chosen profession? ( MY DISCIPLINE IS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)
Respond to at least two of your classmates. Compare and contrast your answers to further everyone’s understanding of technology and the lens of history.
Make sure you support your response with the readings from this module, and any addition resources as needed.
PART 2: Assume the role of an IT consultant working with an entrepreneur starting a business from the ground up. Describe at least one hardware solution and at least one software solution organizations use when designing a reliable and robust infrastructure. Conclude your main post with an explanation of how the solutions you described can benefit a new business.
After you have submitted your main post, examine the solutions described by at least two of your classmates and assess the benefits that they explained. Do you agree with their explanations? Are there additional benefits that should have been included in their explanations? Develop conversations with your classmates.
PART 3: Provide a status report to your classmates and instructor. Describe any modifications you have made to the project or documentation, whether you encountered any new challenges or identified new risks, and describe the mitigation strategy you implemented for addressing each risk. Are you meeting the objectives identified in your system proposal?
For this discussion, include information about the project closure document postmortem summary. Discuss the methodologies you will use to fully implement your system.
What risks would need to be mitigated for similar or follow-on projects?
Were the methods, tools, and technologies you used to implement your system appropriate? Discuss why or why not.
Engage your classmates in discussions that mimic team dynamics expected in professional real-world IT project environments.
In response to your peers, provide feedback on their progress and suggestions they can incorporate into their documentation or project.
Do you see any potential obstacles they might come up against? If so, what approach can they take to overcome these challenges? Does it sound like they are on track to provide a postmortem and project status with all critical elements? Should they focus more on explaining certain elements? Which ones?
