My team has chosen a program in which the insured patient can view the costs of provider services. For instance, the patient needs a colonoscopy. He goes to the website and selects colonoscopy, his provider and the system shows him all the costs involved including the cost of the “operating” room, anesthesia, supplies, and doctor fees. (This is an example of how the program works. This is NOT a focus on how colonoscopy works)
