Team – Assessment Instrument Showcase

imagine you are the head of an agency that is part of the homeland security community as an elected official who is in charge of homeland security legislation or policies, appropriations, or oversight, at federal, state, or local level, etc. And imagine you are, as such a leader, reading the case study and the policy paper to inform your decision making in homeland security policies, strategies, and programs.

For each of the two documents that you chose, write a Full 1-page, single-spaced assessment, identifying the following:

  • How well did the document state the problem or hypothesis?
  • How effective was the document in providing background information needed to understand the subject or issue; was there sufficient discussion to justify the recommendations?
  • How detached and objective was the document?
  • Were the recommendations useful to homeland security policy makers?
  • Did the document leave you with an adequate understanding of the topic within the overall context of homeland security and its risk-informed priorities? If not, how might it be improved?

Provide both assessments in a single text, using the headings “Lessons learned: [Title of text book chapter]” and “Challenges ahead: [Title of RAND Commentary, Research Brief, or Report],” and include proper citation of the two documents, as well as any other references you may want to use.

Documents:

  • Anton, Philip S., Megan McKernan, Ken Munson, James G. Kallimani, Alexis Levedahl, Irv Blickstein, Jeffrey A. Drezner, and Sydne Newberry, Assessing the Use of Data Analytics in Department of Defense Acquisition. Santa Monica, CA: RAND Corporation, 2019. https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_briefs/RB10085.html.

  1. Describe the purpose of the assessment instrument.
  2. Identify the population the instrument is meant to assess.
  3. Explain how this assessment instrument is utilized.
  4. Describe the type of information the results will yield.

Include detailed speaker notes for each slide.

Include a minimum of 3 sources.

Format any citations within your presentation according to APA guidelines.
