To construct your essay, you will need to choose a specific career field (education,
business, marketing, etc.).
Once you have determined the field, choose one of the following areas to
research for your essay:
• A certificate program related to the field or career
• A college degree program related to the field or career
• A conference related to the field or career
For your essay, locate at least two sources to support your writing. Your research
should be focused on the need and importance of the program or conference you
choose. The goal of the report is to explain why the particular program or conference
helps the people in the industry or field.
The research component will be graded in the final essay draft, and will be based
on the following criteria:
• Credibility of sources and relevance to the topic
• Effective use of research to support the main ideas of the
essay
• Incorporation of research in the essay with in-text citations
that aligns with APA format
• An APA-formatted references page
