Criteria for Poetry Essay
1. 2 pages typed, double spaced, Times New Roman Format, 12 points
2. You will need a Works Cited page with 3 entries
3. The Works Cited entries should be cited in the essay at least one time each in MLA format.
4. Sources need to include 3 poems or songs or information that someone says about the poet or songwriter.
5. The introduction should include information not included in the essay like the background of the poet.
6. The thesis statement should be at the end of the introduction. The thesis statement should be about the poet’s writing style and include the vocabulary we studied during the poetry unit.
7. The conclusion should have a thesis sentence at the beginning of the conclusion. The rest of the conclusion should restate the main points about the writing style of the poet.
8. The body of the essay should include evidence to support your thesis.
