Your paper should be word-processed (in Microsoft Word or Rich Text format only!), double-spaced, and at least 850 words in length (excluding your name, title, and references). This assignment is worth 100 points and must be submitted in Microsoft Word or Rich Text formats ONLY!
Instructions: Select one controversial issue (e.g., abortion, teen pregnancy, Welfare reform, environmental justice, etc.) and do a little research to learn more about the topic. Always start with the text and then go to the Internet and search academic sources, in other words NOT Wikipedia or similar sites. Internet sources from non-profit, bi-partisan, government agencies are fine. Of course, sources from peer-reviewed academic journals are always fine.
Take a side in the controversy, and then write a paper (at least 850 words in length) supporting your selected side.
Your paper should include:
- A summary of the topic (based on our textbook and your research);
- Your stated side/opinion on the controversy;
- Supporting evidence for the side you selected;
- A short conclusion
