Research Project: The objective is to find sources that agree or disagree with the stated hypothesis. Locate at least seven current (< 7 years old) sources, from periodicals, books, or journals to document a position. The project will consist of a paragraph summarizing the content of each source and a concluding paragraph, with in-text citations, incorporating the important points from each source (at least eight paragraphs). Each paragraph will contain appropriate in text citations appearing directly after the cited information. The content of the sources, not your personal opinion, will determine the position with respect to the hypothesis. Internet sources are not acceptable; however, the Internet may be used to locate material. All sources will be less than seven (7) years old and identified in a reference list, in alphabetical order and attached to the project. Using the course textbook as an example, a reference list entry would mirror the first two lines of the Required Text paragraph above, starting with Murray. In the text of the research project and in the concluding summary paragraph, the same book citation would appear as (Murray (2016)) located directly after the summary comment(s) attributed to the source. Projects will be graded on applicability, content, and the proper application of APA style citations.
Research Presentation: Students will take about 15 minutes to present the results of their research. Presentations will: identify the important points from each source; identify the source’s position with respect to the hypothesis; contain a conclusion; and be done in PowerPoint. . The Research Project Paper will be submitted at the conclusion of the scheduled presentation as a Word document attached to an email.
