PEER POST # 1

Hello class, I hope you are all doing great and are excited for this new course in IT. My name is Daniel Valdivia, I live in Palm Springs, California. I am currently on my way to obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Business Management in IT. I currently have 4 classes left, and I am very excited to reach the finish line. I do not have many experiences related to this subject of impacts of systems on organizations, but I am looking forward to learning about it and continue my education in IT moving forward.

To me a system is a group of pieces that work together to achieve a common goal. In simpler terms, these pieces have their set of things they must do, they come together with other pieces to accomplish the goal. For example, a company is made up of management and administrative functions, services, products, groups and individuals. If even one part of the system is changed for any reason, the nature of the overall system is changed too. A pile of sand is not a system. If you remove a sand particle, you have still got a pile of sand. However, a functioning car is a system. Remove the carburetor and you have no longer got a working car. For the second part, I will choose Stater Bros a grocery chain in California to discuss their systems.

I have worked at Stater Bros for 14 years, so I know a little bit of how the company is ran and how much systems are a big part of how it all functions to be successful. From cash registers, point of sale systems, inventory management software, sales trackers, computers, networking, Wi-Fi, alarm systems, oil filtration systems, air conditioning systems, freezer and cooler systems, lighting systems. Technology and a lot of systems play a part in running grocery stores as well as distribution centers, and main headquarter offices. Constantly things go down, stop working, and need repairs and maintenance. Things like this are hectic when they happen but the company is pretty good on being on top of it and handling them as soon as possible.

PEER POST # 2

Hello class. My name is Chris and I live in a small rural town near Columbia, SC. I am enrolled at SNHU to graduate with a degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Cyber Security. Having a good understanding of systems in organizations will help me learn how to globally handle problems within the system. Looking around in my den I see my cell phone that’s a system, my smart TV is also a system, my Xbox, and my laptop are all systems. My definition of a system is an arrangement of nodes that are dependent on one another to collectively yield a product. The organization I am going to talk about is the company I work for. We have many systems that are all collectively working together. One system is our office staff. They are in charge of dispatching our technicians, ordering parts, handling customers, and so much more. Another system that exists in our company are the technicians. They are responsible for responding to repair calls, managing inventory, and customer relations. More systems that we use is our laptops and our tablets that we use to manage our calls.
