Instructions

Objective: Perform a one-way ANOVA using JASP and interpret the results.

Grading criteria: The test is automatically graded, and will require information from your JASP output, as well as conceptual understanding of the ANOVA and its interpretation. You will have three attempts on the test, and the highest graded attempt will be saved.

Instructions:

1. Download the dataset and upload to JASP: (see attached)

2. Enter the proper Diagnosed Condition labels: 1 = Cognitive Impairment, 2 = Alzheimer Memory Deficit, 3 = Control, 4 = Alzheimer Executive Deficit

3. Conduct the appropriate ANOVA analysis for the study. Participant number is not an IV or DV and should not be included in the analysis. Be sure to include descriptives, a plot, and a tukey post hoc test in your analysis.

4. Use your JASP output to answer the tests questions. You have 3 attempts at the test.

Description of the study:

A researcher (C.T.A.) is interested in performance differences between patients diagnosed with different types of cognitive impairment. The researcher created an lexical decision (word recognition) experiment testing the ability of patients diagnosed with one of the following conditions; Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s (Memory Deficit), Alzheimer’s (Executive Function Deficit) and a control condition. In a lexical decision task, participants discriminate between words (dog, blue, rose) and non-word letter strings (djfht, dklsid, lrug). The experimenter recorded the response time between the presentation of a stimulus and the participant’s decision of whether the stimulus was a word or non-word. Utilize the information in Dataset_A to perform a one-way ANOVA to uncover potential differences in participants ability to recognize words, then answer the associated questions for Dataset_A in the online test format.
