Static Postural Assessments
Chapter 5 Lab Activity
Task Outline
Task 1 – Static Postural Assessment
– Identify static postural distortions
Task 1 Status Postural Assessment
Instructions:
This lab activity will give the student the opportunity to complete a systematic static postural
assessment on their lab partner. Note that very seldom will a person possess only one distortion.
More commonly is that the client will have a combination of two and possibly all three
distortions.
Activity 1-1. The assignment is for the student to use Kinetic Chain Checkpoints to identify any
postural distortion syndrome(s) that may be present on their lab partner. The students will then
write in paragraph form a description of the distortion(s), what muscles are involved in the
distortion(s) present, as well as what they think a basic strategy would be to correct the
problem(s).
