Graphs are utilized to help organize information and provide support for claims in statistics. They are often used to help support statements made in news articles as well.
Instructions
For this discussion, begin by researching a credible article that contains a graph that you find interesting.
In your initial post:
- Summarize the article in a paragraph and provide a link to the article.
- Describe the graph.
- How does the graph support the claim in the article? Explain.
- Are there any signs of manipulation present in the graph to show bias?
- What other information can be pulled from the data/graph?
In your reply post:
- Reflect on your peer’s choice of article and address one of the following:
- Do you agree with how they describe the graph?
- Or was there any insight that they may have missed?
- Or did you see any bias present in their graph that may have skewed the reader?
- Or was there any other information you thought was significant in the article?
