Statistics can be seen in many different areas of your life. If you read the news or watch sports, you will quickly notice that statistics are a vital component in communicating the importance of actions. Statistics can be seen in the effectiveness of a new drug or a baseball player’s batting average.

The way I interpret statistics would be numbers that provide factual data. Statistics are not opinions and typically provide people with data. I believe statistics can be data other than numbers but I personally associate it with numbers.
A few ways I see statistics in my life would be at work and with Covid-19. For example, at work me and the owner of the brewery will look to see how the days sales are doing. The point of sale will show us the percentage above or below how we were doing on the same day last week. We can look at the comparison to last year if we want to as well. Another cool feature we can look at is what beer is selling the most for the day. These statistics help us make business decisions like when to throw a party or when to run sales and specials for our to-go beers.
Another way I see statistics is just about daily with Covid-19 data. Every time I’m on my phone I see graphs about Covid-19 cases, specifically with the amount of people in hospital beds in my state. It shows the graph from the start of this whole pandemic and shows the spikes and dips in hospitalizations. Seeing these numbers could help someone who is not vaccinated get the vaccine or the booster when it’s available.
