For this week’s project you will research best practices in sports marketing and sponsorship sales. To do this you should look for best practices that have driven measurable results in revenue, fan loyalty, brand recognition or any other quantifiable result. For example these best practices could present effective methods to improve communication, enhance fan engagement, drive ticket/product sales, improve sponsor value, successfully target offers, effectively promote sponsors, etc….basically whatever your research identifies is working in sports that you think will work for your brand as well.
For this project you will assume the role as the CEO/Marketing Executive for a social media marketing agency. You have a company meeting coming up and since so many of your team members are sports fans, you want to demonstrate how you plan to apply many of the best practices that are working in sports marketing and sponsorships sales to your industry. You know that sports have a universal appeal with your team and you are confident that by providing tangible research about sports marketing success stories, that it will help them gain a clearer understanding of your visions and that it will motivate your team to bring your company’s goals to life.
Your research paper should include at least three best practices with at least two examples of how each is brought to life by two different sports organizations (e.g. at least three best practices and at least six unique industry examples). We use a variety of examples because not everyone is a fan of one team and variety helps maintain interest, as well as improves the credibility of your main points because they are based on multi-sourced research. Your research should also include the tangible results that were driven by the best practice, as well as your idea for how you would apply this best practice to drive results within your own business.
