Introduction of a famous Guest Speaker: Students should use a realistic or imaginary speaking situation at Tyler Junior College (the occasion should be established at the speech’s beginning.) Do not just say “Tyler Junior College” and expect to get full credit for this speech. Instead establish that the speech is taking place at graduation, at a banquet of some kind or some other event on campus. For example, “Fellow TJC graduates today I have the honor of introducing one of my heroes.” Also, add a creative hook when first opening up for your speech.
You should select a living, famous person that TJC would be proud to have on its campus. (“Famous” means that this person is a respectable individual in society and easily recognizable.) The student should design a brief, but the professional introduction of a guest speaker using the information from the text and/or from the course website.
- You should NOT cite sources for this type of speech.
