1. Then type a 1-page essay (not a list) addressing the following questions. Answer each question in a separate paragraph. Put some thought into this because this assignment is meant to improve your skills as a public speaker between each speech. Follow the guidelines for typed assignments listed in the syllabus or you will lose points for incorrect formatting. Do not exceed one page or you will lose points. If you find that you have more than a page, exercise your editing skills.

Paragraph 1: What did you do well?

Paragraph 2: What are some weaknesses you noticed?

Paragraph 3: What were you surprised by (something you didn’t know you did, or thought you did better/worse)?

Paragraph 4: What are at least three goals you would like set for the next time?

2. Read through the assignment guidelines for the speech. Then, closely read through the feedback from your peers and from your instructor. Watch the recording of your speech again, then reflect on feedback from other students and your instructor.

Answer the following questions in a 1-2 page typed essay. Again, answer each section in a separate paragraph. Put some thought into this because this assignment is meant to improve your skills as a public speaker between each speech. Follow the guidelines for typed assignments listed in the syllabus.

Paragraph 1: What were some themes in the feedback from your professor and/or your classmates? What does the feedback say you most need to work on?

Paragraph 2: Does the feedback from your professor and classmates match up with the feedback you gave yourself in the first part of your self-critique? What is the same? What is different?

Paragraph 3: What specific parts of the assignment (review the assignment guidelines closely) did you do the best on? What parts of the assignment did you not fulfill?

Paragraph 4: Do you disagree with any of the feedback you received? If so, cite specific evidence from your recorded speech and the assignment guidelines to support your disagreement. If you agree with the feedback, you can just say that in this paragraph and briefly say why you agree with it.

Paragraph 5: What final goals did you list on the “Not Just Any Old Bag” self-critique? Did you meet those goals? How did you meet those goals? If you didn’t meet them, what happened?

Paragraph 6: Review the goals you put in the first part of the self-critique for this speech. After reviewing the feedback from your professor and peers, do you think those are still the most important three goals you can set for yourself? If yes, state that. If not, revise your goals and list them here.
