Assignment Content

  1. Your learning team is a group of special education teachers that belong to a professional learning community (PLC) in a large school district. Your PLC meets regularly to share expertise and to collaborate to improve teaching skills and promote learning and growth for the exceptional learners you teach. This year, the PLC has elected to focus on support systems, programs, and resources for children with disabilities, their families, and the professional educators that teach them.
As a collaborative team, your PLC will review support systems and programs for children and families, as well as professional organizations and resources for teachers. The school district has requested that you synthesize the research into a guide that provides recommendations of programs, resources, and organizations, as well as strategies for teachers regarding how to help children and families find the supports that they need. The guide will be distributed to all special education teachers at an upcoming professional development day.
