Assignment Content


  1. Review the mini-lesson that you discussed with the cooperating teacher in Week 3.
    Make the necessary adaptations to meet the needs of the small group, or the individual student’s exceptionality and communication skill needs.
    Include the following elements in your mini-lesson:

    • Description of instructional approach and explanation of why you chose it
    • Targeted communication skill(s) and strategies being used
    • Modifications and accommodations
    • Learner supports, such as assistive technology
    • A formative assessment and a summative assessment to measure student learning (exceptionality-specific)

    Teach the mini-lesson in a small group or to an individual in a one-on-one setting.
    Consider using methods of delivery (technology, oral, etc.) that promote expressive and receptive communication skill reinforcement, meet the needs of the exceptionalities, and ensure student engagement.
    Write a 275- to 350-word reflection that describes the following:

    • Overall teaching experience
    • Initial changes you made to adapt the lesson
    • Changes you would make after teaching the lesson

    Submit the following:

    • Original lesson plan
    • Adapted lesson plan
    • Reflection
