Building on the topics of the etiology of physical disabilities—and how AT devices and AT services support students with physical or health-related disabilities from Wks 2 and 3—we will now shift the focus to instructional content and teaching practices.

Due Thursday

After reading Special education in Contemporary Society, Chapters 11, 12, 13, 14 Ch. 11, 12, 13, and 14, respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  • What are some general approaches to teaching reading, and how can they be used to teach students with physical or multiple disabilities to read?
  • What adaptations might you make?
  • How might you adapt the process writing approach to teach writing to a student with a physical disability?

Explain and provide specific examples to support your response. Remember to include a reference for the information in your post using APA guidelines. It is perfectly acceptable and expected that you will use the assigned reading as a reference for your post.

  • How does this topic link to the College’s Conceptual Framework and the framework’s philosophical relationship to effective teacher preparation?
