Purpose

The use of Prolonged Exposure Therapy has been used for many, many years to treat individuals with significant trauma (with some of its elements evident in more modern approaches to trauma work, namely CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy). Such treatments have become more complex these days, focusing more on things like cognitive restructuring to assist patients navigate their way back to baseline functioning.
