Now that you are in the final week of this course, think about the skills that you have learned and accumulated.
In your initial post, consider your role as a professional. Using what you have learned in this course to support your answer and this week’s supplemental resources to guide you, address the following:
- Which database role is most appealing to you for your professional career, and why?
- What dispositions do you believe will be necessary for that role?
- What role or career path are you hoping to pursue, and how do you plan on using the skills you’ve learned in that role?
- Which specific skills from this course do you believe will be the most beneficial?
- What resources from the course, either supplemental or primary, will you continue to reference?
Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts. Address the following when responding:
- How can you continue to grow as a professional? Be specific in your answer.
- What types of professional resources do you find valuable that you can share with your classmates? Include a URL where appropriate.
Your responses should show that you have given thought to what your peers’ initial posts stated. Your responses should push the conversation forward, offer insights, and ask clarifying questions if necessary.

Module 8 Discussion.
The role of Database Scientists is by far the most appealing to me because of how much it seems to fit into my current role. Gathering and cleansing data to be used for problem solving, predictive solutions and data visualization are all a big part of how I use a database to continuously improve our equipment operations. Problem solving is a vital skill to performing this role well and those goes hand in hand with good mathematical skills. Mathematical principals are seen throughout database operations but are also a necessary skill to be used in Predictive analytics. Predictive analytics are also a vital part of my daily job as I am able to look at data that describes equipment performance and determine many future activities surrounding this equipment such as PM frequency, inspection frequency or even how long we can operate before replacing the equipment.
I have hopes to use what I have learned to increase my efficiency in my current job as well as to pursue career advancement. I will continue to use many of the resources that we discussed such as the My SQL tutorials and information that is available there. Also, the standard queries that we have built during this course can easily be a foundation for other more complicated queries that I may need later. I got into data analytics without really knowing what I was getting into, but I have enjoyed the years I have put into. This course has without a doubt helped fill in some of the educational gaps that I have been contending with and therefor makes me fill more confident in my role and what I am capable of.

Hello everybody,
I hope all is well with you and your families, wish you guys all the best. When I started to think about which of the many database roles I could apply to my future professional career within my own company, IT Security Analysts sounds like the one I will pursue. Creating and improving existing processes with procedures for managing on-premise incidents and handling the latest threats are just a few responsibilities in this job role. Collecting customer information like phone numbers and email addresses to create a personalized experience for each customer is just one of the many ways we use databases and the information they provide. The trust and security of our customers are imperative to the success of our company. We will always need professional technicians for this job role.
My company’s Information Security department will be an ever-evolving department. The skills taught to me throughout this course will be beneficial for my future college courses. Learning how to create and analyze tables is very challenging for me, but now that I have the fundamentals I will succeed. Analyzing SQL queries will be the most helpful to me. I will be referencing the MYSQL 8.0 reference manual to help me better my knowledge of this open-source database. Although I am still new to this magnificent industry, I will expand my knowledge for as long as possible.
