Sociological imagination and intervention, HIV/AIDS Prevention Program Assignment help (2-3 pages)

Student’s input/idea: I would like to develop a proposal targeting HIV+ Blacks/African-American inmates in San Francisco transitioning to the community. Use “sociological imagination” and include a sociological intervention of some kind.

Develop a proposal should include the following parts:

Introduction (2-3 pages)

• Establish the importance of the broad topic you are addressing (HIV/AIDS)

• Identify the community you will be addressing and WHY this community matters for

AIDS prevention (high prevalence, few prevention programs, or possible next hot-spot?)

• Discuss the kinds of risks and challenges to prevention this community faces.

• Briefly outline the program you are proposing.

Literature Review (2-3 pages)

• Review the literature from class related to your chosen topic.

• Use this section to justify your choice in target population.

• Use this section to justify the need for the kind of AIDS prevention

program you are proposing.

Detailed proposal of prevention program (2-3 pages)

• What kind of program are you proposing? Be detailed – cover the who/what/where/when

of your program. Don’t just say it is an education program or an app – give specifics of

these programs.

• How does it address the needs you established in your literature review?

• What gap in prevention programs does it fill?

• This section should also make use of references from class support the likelihood that

your proposed program will succeed. Demonstrate that this is an evidence-based

proposal.

Methodology (.5 -1 pages)

• How will you test the efficacy of your program? How will you know that it has

succeeded?

Anticipated Timeline and Budget (1 page)

• This section will vary by proposal and of course your numbers will be estimated. Do not

dwell on this section, but this should help you to demonstrate that your proposed program

is feasible.

Conclusion (1-2 pages)

• Reiterate the community you are targeting, their needs and the ways that your proposal

meets their needs.
