Social Inequality & Aging Disc

This week you’ve faced the intersectionality of aging, race, gender, and other social inequalities. We often worry about the impact of social inequalities in early adulthood or youth, but they are influential throughout the life course and can result in cumulative disadvantage in later life. Understanding privilege and disadvantage are important to understanding the aging experience. We should also remember that it’s likely individuals occupy social locations that are a source of privilege and locations that are a source of disadvantage.

For your post reply (click the reply button below), consider your own intersectionality (or you can choose to analyze someone famous or well known). This might include race, class, gender, marital status, citizenship, religion, education, etc. What social locations do you (or will you) occupy that might privilege you in older adulthood? How so? What locations do you (or will you) occupy that might disadvantage you in older adulthood? How so? What, if anything, might someone in your social location do to have the best older adulthood possible? Use scholarly and/or credible sources to support your argument (not the textbook!) Write about 3-4 paragraphs!
