Students complete a study for Afghanistan in relation to a key aspect of its culture. Within this broad framework, students explore an issue that is related to some aspect of cultural conflict or cross-cultural communication. Cultural competence in terms of the region should be addressed — cultural competence being defined as the ability to navigate complex cultural environments in pursuit of mutually satisfactory outcomes. Analysis, synthesis, and recommendations should consider US strategic implications when practical
