The decade of choice is the 80s

4. If you had no idea what your class, race (or ethnicity), gender, or sexual orientation would
be, what decade would you choose to live in as a teen? Why? Don’t just talk about why you like the
music and fashion of the decade of you choose – instead, you should think about the important
economic, cultural, social, and political issues that affected teen lives in the decade you choose. You
should also acknowledge the negative aspects of the decade you have chosen. For instance, if you think the 1950s or 1960s were the best decade to be a teen, you should
use at least one or two chapters from the Palladino book to bolster your argument. Lastly, keep in
mind, when answering the question that people do not miss things that have not been invented. Thus,
a teen in 1980 is probably not worse off than a teen in 2020 because a teen in 1980 teen did not have
an iphone. On the other hand, a teen in 1980 could be unhappier than their 2020 counterpart because
they do not have access to the sorts of communities that social media can provide. (Approximately 1
3/4 – 2 pages)
