Each student will complete an essay on a given topic. The essay will be 5-6 pages in length, double spaced, 12-point font, and use of APA. This is a take-home assignment. It will cover the negative and positive impacts of tourism on a specific destination and its culture. The countries/destinations are listed in the Moodle site – each student has their own to research.
Students have expressed concern that their responses are not confidential when they must use their student identification number to log into the system (Dommeyer et al., 2002). However, breaches of confidentiality can occur even with paper-based administration. For example, an instructor might recognize student handwriting (one reason some students do not write comments on paper-based forms), or an instructor might remain present during SET administration (Avery et al., 2006).
