In the first paragraph, state the research question or argument you are investigating (thesis statement). For example, “this paper examines recent evidence for long-term benefits of breastfeeding to the child.” Put the five articles you have examined in a logical order. It might be chronological order, or you might have sub-topics, such as “the influence of breastfeeding on child health” and “the influence of breastfeeding on child IQ.” Your description of each article featured in your paper should:
- State the purpose of the study
- Describe the design and research methods in brief (similarly to the method used in the textbook)
- Describe the key findings of the study
- State any limitations or problems with the study (based on correlational data, small sample size, limited geographic distribution or demographics of the sample, etc.). The authors will usually state the limitations near the end of their Discussion section.
