(Works needed: one at least six PowerPoint slides + a speaker notes with spoken language enough for 4 to 5 minutes)

Instructions:

Using all the materials for this course, you will choose one country which you are unfamiliar with. Your presentation will describe food habits, past and present, for that country’s food culture, emphasizing how the food culture has changed due to internal and external pressures (1/3 of content on traditional food culture, 2/3 on modern adaptations). You should focus on differences between traditional food habits and contemporary food habits, including factors that have caused adaptations and health status. You may use scholarly and library references, periodicals (magazines and newspapers). You need to submit a video presentation with at least six PowerPoint slides as follows:

Page 1: Title Page – Name and Country

Page 2: Traditional Food Habits – about 1/3 of the presentation. Pick one or two from the list:

background history, ingredients/flavor principles, common/traditional foods, meal composition cycle, holidays and celebrations, role of food in the society and etiquette.

Page 3 &4: Contemporary Food Habits – about 2/3 of the presentation. Pick two or three from the list:

Current economic situation, food trend, famous chefs, food truck, dessert, fast food menu, health status.

Page 5: Identify the internal/external pressures and the resulting adaptations of food culturePage 6: Reference list (include reference lists from SJSU library resources).

Include short bullet points and make sure font is legible (colors and font needs to be easy to read)


Length of Presentation: Your presentation should be 4 – 5 minutes
