For your essay, I’d like you to pick ONE of the following topics and write about it. Make sure that whichever project you pick, you incorporate direct quotes from the novel into your work.
- You are a lawyer and you need to argue that Victor Frankenstein is innocent of aiding and abetting murder (let’s just ignore whatever laws he broke against the dead), and you also need to argue that The Creature is also innocent of his crimes and murders. Argue their innocence using quotes from the book and from the research we collected in Week 7.
- One of the themes of Frankenstein is how creators, inventors, and scientists interact with their creations/discoveries once they are “born.” Using the novel and the research in collected in Week 7 and/or research you use on your own, answer this question: what do you think the novel is saying on this theme overall? You may use the following questions to help guide your thoughts and writing as you research and work: should Victor be responsible for The Monster’s life? Education? Behavior? To what extent? Who are some modern creators/inventors/scientists that should be more or less responsible for their creations/discoveries?
Requirements:
- At least 5 pages, no more than 10.
- You need to incorporate at least 2 outside sources besides the novel.
- MLA format.
