For your second draft, you should have a rough draft of your analysis that integrates and analyzes evidence from the short story you’ve selected. Your draft should include a clear thesis (argument), introduction, and conclusion that effectively communicates the purpose/focus of your analysis. You will workshop this draft with a partner before submitting the final, third draft to the professor for a grade.
To ensure the most productive workshop, you should strive to have a complete draft that has been thoughtfully organized and proofread. This draft will not be assessed for grammar or mechanics; at the least, to receive full process credit for this draft, you should have extended upon your proposal, have some analysis of at least two pieces of evidence (paraphrase/quotation), and have a fully formed thesis/argument.
While we don’t enforce strict page requirements in this course, a suggested length for a complete draft of this assignment is 3-4 pages, double-spaced (not including the Works Cited page).
Again, your rough and final drafts should be formatted in MLA with a complete Works Cited page and in-text citations.
