For this assignment, you will study some of the history of civil engineering in San Diego, better understanding the regions layout, people, government, and civil engineering related work. Complete by reading the Introduction to each Journal (2002 and 2016) and pick one of the detailed articles to read in full as well. Then visit the project site or one of the locations related to the article (if you can, if you cannot visit due to distance or other issues, use online photos and video resources). Submit a brief (1-2 minutes) video of yourself speaking (preferably live video on-site) about the project… why does it interest you, what is the purpose of the project, who was involved, what was the “main discipline” of civil engineering, and how are all of the other “disciplines” of civil engineering still involved in that one project, and what other types of work/companies/experts. Identify what may be sustainable or unsustainable about the project. Upload video to this assignment using one of the Canvas tools, from your Smart Phone or other method.
Note that the writer of each article is a local engineering expert. Take time to look them up and learn about who they are, what companies and agencies they come from (tip: LinkedIn is a great resource)
